Dutch-Bangla Bank provided financial assistance worth Tk. 11.27 crore to help Savar factory collapse victims

Dutch-Bangla bank contributed Tk. 11.27 crore to help the victims of Savar tragedy under its corporate social responsibility. Soon after the news of Savar Rana Plaza building collapse came to the knowledge, the competent authority of the Bank earlier announced through electronic and print media that each family of the garment workers killed will receive Tk. 1.0 lac to overcome the tragedy. The rescue operation for bodies from the wreckage of the collapsed building Rana Plaza in Savar formally came to an end and the total death toll has reached to 1,127.

 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received the cheque of the donation for Tk. 11.27 crore from the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank, Mr. Abedur Rashid Khan at a function held at Prime Minister’s Tejgaon Office. Mr. K.S. Tabrez, Managing Director of the Bank was also present.

 

Among others, Finance Minister Mr. AMA Muhith, Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman, Secretary of Bank and Financial Division Dr. M. Aslam Alam, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Mr. SK Sur Chowdhury, Chairman of Bangladesh Association of Banks were also present.

Dutch-Bangla Bank holds 17th AGM (Annual General Meeting)

The 17th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited was held on April 28, 2013 at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka under the Chairmanship of Mr. Abedur Rashid Khan, Chairman, the Board of Directors of the Bank. The honorable Chairman welcomed the honorable Members present in the AGM. At the start of the meeting a prayer was offered for the eternal peace of the deceased garment workers and employees and early recovery of the injured in the tragic collapse of Rana Plaza building at Savar.

The bank declared Cash Dividend @ 40% (i.e. Taka 4 per share of Taka 10 each) for the General Public Shareholders and Foreign Sponsors/ Shareholders for the year 2012. The Local Sponsors of the Bank will not receive any dividend. A good number of members participated in the discussion on the overall performance of the Bank in the AGM.

Among others, honorable Directors of the Board including Mr. Sayem Ahmed (Chairman, Executive Committee of the Board), Mr. Md. Fakhrul Islam, Dr. Irshad Kamal Khan, Mr. Chowdhury M. Ashraf Hossain, Mr. Md. Yeasin Ali, the Managing Director of the Bank Mr. K. S. Tabrez and Company Secretary Mr. Md. Monirul Alam, FCS were present in the AGM. Mr. M. Sahabuddin Ahmed, Founder of Dutch-Bangla Bank & Chairman of Dutch-Bangla Bank Foundation was also present in the meeting.

The Financial Statements of the Bank for the year ended December 31, 2012 were placed before the meeting and the members made a critical review of the performance of the Bank. The honorable members expressed their satisfaction with the activities of the Bank during the year 2012.

The deposit of the Bank increased by 24.5% from Tk. 100,711.0 million in 2011 to Tk. 125,433.1 million in 2012, while loans & advances increased by 15% from Tk. 79,660.7 million in 2011 to Tk. 91,648.9 million in 2012 and foreign-trade business increased by 21.23%.

The Bank earned net profit after tax of Tk. 2,314.1 million in 2012 as against Tk. 2,154.9 million in 2011 registering 7.4% growth. Capital Adequacy Ratio stood at 12.0% that was well above 10% minimum regulatory requirement as per Basel-II.

The meeting unanimously appointed M/s. Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co. as the auditor of the Bank for the year 2013.

Along with the nation, Dutch-Bangla Bank mourns the tragic death toll of Rana Plaza building collapse at Savar. The Bank also expresses deep sympathy towards every family members of garments worker affected by the disaster.

 

With full sympathy and in the service of distressed humanity the authority of the bank has decided to donate Tk. 1,00,000/- (one lac) each to every family of the deceased to overcome the tragedy.

DBBL, Airtel and Jaago Foundation sign agreement for Collection of donation through mobile banking

Dutch-Bangla Bank (DBBL), Airtel Bangladesh Ltd. and Jaago Foundation have recently signed an agreement on Mobile Banking Services at the Mobile Banking Office of DBBL. Ms. Rubaba Dowla, Chief Service Officer and Head of m-commerce of Airtel, Mr. Korvi Rakshand, Founder of Jaago Foundation and Mr. Mir Mominul Huq, Head of Mobile Banking Division of DBBL signed the agreement on behalf of respective organizations.

 

The agreement will facilitate a unique service through which any person who has a DBBL Mobile Banking account can donate money to Jaago foundation from his/her Mobile Banking account. Customers will not be charged for this donation. Jago Foundation will spent money for education of the underprivileged children of the society.

 

Among others Mr. Mir Sadik Faisal, Senior Manager, Business Development of Airtel Bangladesh Ltd, Ms. Nody Rashid, Manager corporate affairs of Jaago Foundation, Mr. Mohammed Mesbahul Alam, Deputy Head of DBBL Mobile Banking and Mr. Jakirul Islam, Head of operations of DBBL Mobile Banking were present at the occasion.

Dutch-Bangla Bank wins Award for School Banking

Mr. Abul Maal Abdul Muhit, MP, Finance Minister and Chairman, 8th Bangladesh Games is seen receiving a cheque for Tk 50 lac from Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman, EC of the Board, Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd. at the Conference Hall of Finance Ministry on last Sunday. Dutch-Bangla Bank donates Tk. 70 lac to Kendria Kachi-Kanchar Mela

Dutch-Bangla Bank has donated Tk. 70 lac to Kendria Kachi-Kanchar Mela, a children cultural    organization, founded on October 5, 1956 by the leading educationalists and cultural personalities of the country including eminent child litterateur & Journalist Mr. Rokonujjaman Khan (Dada Bhai). The organization was established for creating a platform for children’s intellectual development, character building, practice of literature, art and culture as well as inspiring patriotism among the children as the future citizen of the country. The donation amount will be spent for partial repair & renovation of the building at Segunbagicha, Dhaka including extensive refurbishment of the auditorium of Kendria Kachi-Kanchar Mela.

 

Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of DBBL handed over the cheque of donation to Dr. ATM Shamsul Huda, Chairman of the Trustee Board of Kendria Kachi-Kanchar Mela at a simple ceremony held at the bank,s Head office on April 04, 2013. Dr. Huda appreciated DBBL’s continuous humanitarian and welfare activities and thanked Dutch-Bangla Bank for its generous donation.

Dutch-Bangla Bank stands by Tornado hit people of Brahmanbaria

Dutch-Bangla Bank donated 700 bundles of CGI sheets for 350 families affected by Tornado that lashed several villages in 3 (three) Upazillas of Brahmanbaria on last Friday afternoon. Each family will be distributed 2 (two) bundles of sheets and Tk. 3,000/- in cash for construction of their destroyed houses. The total donation involves Tk. 50.00 lac.

 

Dtuch-Bangla Bank, as in the past, has come forward instantly to rehabilitate the destroyed families affected by natural disaster by way of giving them CGI sheet.

 

This donation in the form of CGI sheets and cash for rehabilitating the homeless people affected by the Tornado was handed over to Mr. Nur Mohammed Mojumder, Deputy Commissioner of Brahmanbaria on March 23, 2013 in presence of people of the locality. Mr. Mohammed Azad Sallal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Brahmanbaria, Managers of Dutch-Bangla Bank Brahmanbaria and Comilla branches and media people were also present on the occasion.

DBBL donates Tk 3.50 crore to PROYASH for the well-being of children with special needs

Dutch-Bangla Bank has donated Tk 3.50 crore to ‘PROYASH’, an institute under the patronization of Bangladesh Army dedicated for the well-being of children with special needs. Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of DBBL handed over the cheque of donation to Brig Gen Azmal Kabir, psc, Chairman of the Governing Body of PROYASH at a simple ceremony held at the bank,s Head office on March 23, 2013. The contribution made by Dutch-Bangla Bank will be utilized towards the well-being of the children with special needs at seven branches of PROYASH.

 

Brig Gen Md Sharafat Hossain, ndc, psc, Lt Col Md Mostagousur Rahman Khan, afwc, psc, Maj Md Zakir Hossain, psc, Capt Md Akther Hossain of PROYASH, Mr. K.S. Tabrez, Managing Director and Abul Kashem Md. Shirin, Deputy Managing Director of Dutch-Bangla Bank were also present on the occasion.

 

PROYASH is an institute established in 2006 at Dhaka Cantonment under the auspicious of Bangladesh Army with the motto of “Special child special right”. The objective of PROYASH is to educate and train students with special needs in view of incorporating them in the mainstream education and thus upholding their right in the society as self-dependent persons.

 

Brig Gen Azmal Kabir, psc in his oration appreciated the DBBL’s continuous humanitarian and welfare activities and thanked the Board of Directors and the Management of DBBL for its generous donation to enhance the facilities of PROYASH which would go a long to rehabilitate the children and youths with special needs.
