DBBL opens its 115th branch at Mirer Bazar, Pubail, Gazipur

Dutch-Bangla Bank has opened its 115th branch at Mirer Bazar, Pubail (Fouzia Sarker Commercial Complex, Kamargaon, Mirer Bazar, Pubail, Gazipur) on May 13, 2012. Like the other DBBL branch network, this branch also provides truly On-line Banking facilities to the clients from the opening day of the branch. Mr. Md. Sayedul Hasan, Deputy Managing Director of the bank formally inaugurated the Mirer Bazar Branch.

The opening ceremony started with Milad-Mahfil seeking blessings of the Almighty Allah for successful operation of the branch, prosperity of the business community, depositors and stakeholders of the bank.

DBBL provides a wide array of banking products and financial services including card services to its retail and corporate customers. The bank started mobile banking operation, first of this kind in the country to reach banking services to the door steps of the millions of rural people. It has a wide variety of delivery channels like ATMs, Fast Tracks besides branch networks at important places of the country.

People from all walks of lives visited the new Branch throughout the day and showed their spontaneous enthusiasm by opening account with Dutch-Bangla Bank.

Launching ceremony of Wage earners’ remittance delivery through DBBL Mobile Banking services from Xpress Money

Dutch-Bangla Bank (DBBL) and Xpress Money Services Ltd. jointly kick-off the remittance through DBBL Mobile Banking Services on May 10, 2012 at the Bank’s Head Office. The installation ceremony was graced by Mr. Vinesh Venugopal Nair, Vice President, Global Marketing & Communication of Xpress Money Services Ltd. and Mr. K. S. Tabrez, Managing Director of Dutch-Bangla Bank on behalf of their respective organizations.


Under this arrangement, the wage earners will be able to remit their money to DBBL Mobile Banking Accounts from Xpress Money services counter in abroad. Upon receipt of money in their mobile accounts, the beneficiaries’ will be able to withdraw cash from any nearby agent, DBBL branches and ATMs, transfer money to their relatives’ mobile account, buy goods and services from a retailer, and pay utility bills.

The Asian Banker has awarded DBBL for the best Mobile Banking Initiative award

Recognizing the effort and the achievement in providing solutions for the unbanked, the Asian Banker has awarded DBBL and its solution partner SAP for their best Mobile Banking Initiative award.

Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman of the Executive Committee of DBBL and Mr. Mathew Talbot, Senior Vice President of Sybase Mobile Commerce Division (a SAP Company) received the award on 26 April in Bangkok, Thailand.

DBBL awards scholarships to 857 students under the program of its social cause

Dutch-Bangla Bank, under the program of its social cause and in continuation of this program awarded scholarship to 857 students as the forth phase who passed H.S.C  Examination in 2011 and studying at Graduate level in various Universities/ Colleges of the country. Mr. Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, MP, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Finance, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governor of Bangladesh Bank were present as the Chief Guest and Special Guest respectively and handed over the Scholarship Awarding Letters to the recipients at a ceremony held at Osmani Smriti Milonayoton, Abdul Gani Road, Dhaka on April 28, 2012. Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of DBBL presided over the function. Mr. K.S. Tabrez, Managing Director of the bank was also present at the function.

Mentionable that, under this largest scholarship program in Bangladesh, Dutch-Bangla Bank will award scholarship worth Tk. 102 crore (1.02 billion) to 30,000 recipients each year by 2016.

Dutch-Bangla Bank (DBBL) formally signed an agreement with Grameenphone Ltd. to provide Mobile Banking Services to its customers recently in the city. The agreement was signed by Mr. Tore Johnsen, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Grameenphone Ltd. and Mr. K. S. Tabrez, Managing Director of Dutch-Bangla Bank on behalf of their respective organizations.

This agreement will allow better access to DBBL’s award winning mobile banking services. As the country’s first and largest mobile banking service provider, Dutch-Bangla Bank will offer various services to Grameenphone customers which include the largest number of outlets and agent network, the most affordable rates, fully compliant and monitored network (100% KYC compliant), small and large scale salary disbursements, remittance, fund transfer to other phones, balance check and statement check.

Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman of the EC of the Board of Dutch-Bangla Bank handed over FDR of Tk. 6.00 lac to the widow of the deceased Belayet Hossain, an Assistant Sub-inspector of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station at a function held at Dhaka Metropolitan Police Head Quarter on April 19, 2012, for meeting the future educational expenses of their two children. A rashly driven bus carrying a gang of thieves ran over a police team in their desperate flight for escape, killing Belayet Hossain instantly, as the law enforcers put barricade to intercept the vehicle in the city’s Agargaon area on April 12, 2012.

Dutch-Bangla Bank donates 320 Net Books as a part of its Social Cause activities to run Smiling Sun Franchise Program (SSFP), a USAID funded health project in Bangladesh.

On the occasion of launching the new system in clinic level operations with a view to establish wide integrated and online MIS system and to celebrate Dutch-Bangla Bank’s donation of 320 Net Books through SSFP, a USAID funded health project in Bangladesh, a function was arranged by the authority of SSFP at Smiling Sun (SurjerHashi) clinic network at Rangamati on April 02, 2012.

Hon’ble State Minister, Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Mr. DipankarTalukder was present as the chief guest and His Excellency US Ambassador to Bangladesh Mr. Dan W. Mozena and the Hon’ble Chairman of EC of the Board, Dutch-Bangla Bank, Mr. Sayem Ahmed attended the function as the guest of honour.

Mr. Sayem Ahmed handed over a Net Book to Mr. Richard Greene, Mission Director of USAID. The total cost of 320 Acer Brand Net Books comes to Tk7.257 million and the entire Net Books have already been handed over to the authority of SSFP for use in 64 districts through a network of 320 rural and urban clinics.

Mr. Sayem Ahmed in his speech maintained that clinic level MIS will enableelectronic medical records and patient tracking, quality of care improvement, clinic performance control, financial monitoring and sharing health care services data with the Government of Bangladesh. He further added that Dutch-Bangla Bank as a part of its Social Cause activities donated the Net Books to SSFP to meet the vision of Millennium Development Goals – the top priority of SSFP to implement IT based Management Information System and health care services in the country.

Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited has signed an MOU with Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU), IMED, Ministry of Planning, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Planning Ministry, Agargaon.

Under this agreement, Tenderers will be able to pay their registration and renewal fee, Purchase Tender document and any other fees specified by the CPTU from e-GP system through DBBL Nexus Internet Payment Gateway (IPG) using DBBL Nexus Debit card as well as Visa and MasterCards.
