The Closing and Prize Distribution ceremony of 4th BAF-Dutch-Bangla Bank Golf Tournament-2014 was held on March 01, 2014 at Shaheen Golf and Country Club Patenga, Chittagong. The program was organized by Shaheen Golf and Country Club, Patenga, Chittagong and sponsored by Dutch-Bangla Bank. Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Mohammad Enamul Bari, ndu, psc has grace the occasion as Chief Guest and distributed the prizes amongst the Winners. Mr. K.S. Tabrez, Managing Director of Dutch-Bangla Bank was present on the event as Special Guest. Among others, Mr. Abul Kashem Md. Shirin, Deputy Managing Director of the Bank and senior officials of Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force and senior officers of DBBL were present on the occasion.
Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, ndu, psc, Chief of Air Staff expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to DBBL for sponsoring the tournament for the 4th consecutive year. He also lauded the role of DBBL in providing banking services at the door-steps of the clientele.
Mr. K. S. Tabrez, Managing Director of DBBL congratulated the winners of the event. He added that, Dutch-Bangla Bank being a unique banking institution has made a name for itself by way of carrying out diverse socio-cultural activities in the country.
4th BAF-Dutch-Bangla Bank Golf Tournament-2014 was participated by a total of 229 golfers including 41 ladies and 30 Junior Golfers from various clubs of the country. Cdr Monjurul Hossain Khan, Mrs. Sqn Ldr Shamsun Niher and Master Mahir Muntasir won the Male, Female and Junior Winner respectively while Lt Cdr Mostafizur Rahman, Mrs. Sqn Ldr Mohammad Abu Sadek and Master Alamin won the Male, Female and Junior Runner Up respectively.
The Managers’ Conference-2014 of Dutch-Bangla Bank was held on 22 & 23 February 2014 at Hotel Purbani International, Dilkusha, Dhaka aiming to review the Bank’s performance of the year 2013 and discuss the business plan and target for the year 2014.
The Conference was presided over by Mr. K. S. Tabrez, Managing Director of the bank. Branch Managers from 136 branches of the bank attended the conference. The Deputy Managing Directors, Mr. Abul Kashem Md. Shirin, Mr. Md. Sayedul Hasan, Mr. Khan Tariqul Islam, all Divisional Heads and senior executives of Head Office of the bank were also present in the conference.
In his address, the Managing Director critically analyzed the business performance of the bank for the year 2013 and congratulated the concerned Managers and their colleagues of the respective branches who have able to achieve their targets. He also expected that the Managers who have not been able to achieve the respective targets in 2013, will make all out efforts to achieve the targets set for the year 2014.
He urged the branch managers and divisional heads to put in their best performance for achieving the overall targets of the bank set for the year 2014. He emphasized on increasing fee-based and commission income especially on procurement of non-funded business, mobilization of retail and low-cost deposits; by taking advantages of the largest On-line banking, Fast Tracks, ATM networks and Mobile Banking as well. He also directed the participants for improving the standard of customer services.
All branch Managers while expressing their prospects and challenges firmly committed to achieve the budgetary targets for the year 2014.
Dutch-Bangla Bank (DBBL) and NEC Money Transfer Entidad De Pago S.A, Spain signed agreement for Wage Earners’ Remittance Delivery Arrangement on February 12, 2014 at the Bank’s Head Office.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Ikram Farazy, Managing Director & CEO, NEC Money Transfer Entidad De Pago S.A and Mr. Masud Hossain, Head of International Division of DBBL while Mr. K.S. Tabrez Managing Director, Mr. Abul Kashem Md. Shirin, Deputy Managing Director of DBBL and Dr. Anower Hossain Director, NEC Money Transfer Entidad De Pago S.A. and other senior officials from both the organizations were present in this occasion.
Under this arrangement, the wage earners will be able to send money to their relatives through Dutch-Bangla Bank from different European Countries and the beneficiaries will be able to withdraw money from any of 136 branches, 2,500 ATMs and 70,000 Mobile Banking Agents.

Under the Smile-Brighter program, Dutch-Bangla Bank organized a 2-day long plastic surgery operation campaign at bank’s own cost at ‘Yamagata Dhaka Friendship Hospital’ in the City for the poor cleft-lipped boys and girls to bring back the endearing smile on their faces. The two-day operation campaign started on February 2, 2014. A total of 35 boys and girls would be operated upon by an eminent plastic surgeon Dr. Shareef Hasan. Mr. K.S. Tabrez, Managing Director of Dutch-Bangla Bank visited the operation camp and inquired about the cleft-lipped patients at the hospital.
In continuation of social cause program Dutch-Bangla Bank awarded scholarship to 2,518 students as the 8th phase who passed HSC/Equivalent examination in 2013 studying at Graduation level in different University/Colleges of the country. Mr. Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, MP, Hon’ble Minister for Finance, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest and handed over the Scholarship Awarding Letters to the recipients at a ceremony held at Shaheed Shohrawardi Indoor Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka on February 01, 2014 while Mr. Gerben de Jong, the Ambassador of Kingdom of the Netherlands to Bangladesh was present as Special Guest. Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of DBBL presided over the function. Mr. K.S. Tabrez, Managing Director of the bank was also present at the function.
Hon’ble Minister Mr. Abul Maal Abdul Muhith in his oration profusely lauded the scholarship program of Dutch-Bangla Bank and recalled other Philanthropic activities of the Bank. He appreciated the DBBL’s continuous humanitarian and welfare activities and termed this Scholarship program as a unique example of helping the meritorious and needy students of the country. He expected that all the corporate bodies of the country would come forward with such programs for the benefit of the society.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gerben de Jong appreciated Dutch-Bangla Bank Foundation for its generous initiative to build the future of the underprivileged students which would go a long to the development of the human resources of the country. He also congratulated the students who got DBBL’s Scholarship.
Chairman, Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Dutch-Bangla Bank in his speech said that since inception, as a responsible corporate body, DBBL has been playing a pioneering role in implementing social and philanthropic programs to help disadvantaged people of the society. A number of sectors are on the priority list of the bank including education, healthcare, and rehabilitation of distressed people where the bank carries out its social and philanthropic activities. He also mentioned that DBBL’s scholarships of all level are awarded to at least 90% of the students coming from rural areas and again at least 50% to girl students. The EC Chairman extended his gratitude and thanks to the Hon’ble Minister for attending and gratifying the scholarship awarding ceremony.
Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited organized a day-long workshop for the refreshers on Prevention of Money Laundering and Combating Terrorist Financing. Mr. K. S. Tabrez, Managing Director of the Bank was present as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the workshop on January 18, 2014 held at the Bank’s Training Wing, Dhaka. The workshop aimed at familiarizing the participants with the updated and changed aspects of Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing. Different resource persons and anti money laundering experts conducted various sessions in the workshop.
In his address, Mr. K. S. Tabrez mentioned that with the increase of economic activities and economic inclusion of greater number of peoples, more and more individuals and organizations are coming within the purview of banking services and thereby it becomes a challenge for the bankers to keep the banking institution safe from its illegal use by unscrupulous elements. He also advised the participants to exercise due caution in account opening process and strengthen transaction monitoring efforts to prevent money laundering.

Dutch-Bangla Bank handed over 5,000 blankets to Bangladesh Bank for distribution among the cold hit poor people in different parts of the country to reduce their sufferings.

Mentionable that the authority of Dutch-Bangla Bank had earlier donated 100,000 pieces of winter blankets worth Tk7.0 crore to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for distribution among the poor and elderly people who are suffering in utter distress due to intense spell of cold waves now sweeping through many districts particularly in the northern districts of the country.

Dutch-Bangla Bank has donated one Life Support Ambulance to Dhaka Metropolitan Police. Mr. K.S. Tabrez, Managing Director of the Bank handed over the key of the ambulance to Mr. Benazir Ahmed, bpm, Commissioner, DMP at a ceremony held at Dhaka Metropolitan Police Head Quarter on January 11, 2014.
The life support ambulance procured at a cost of Tk40 lacs will help carrying the sick police personnel or wounded forces to the hospital and can also be used by any distressed people in need by call.
Mr. Benazir Ahmed, Police Commissioner lauded the role of Dutch-Bangla Bank for various Social Cause Activities and acknowledged the financial support and co-operation made by DBBL in the past in the different areas of DMP. He also recalled the support of Dutch-Bangla Bank for Digitalization of Salary Disbursement System of DMP through DBBL. He thanked Dutch-Bangla Bank Foundation for this excellent support and sustained co-operation made by DBBL to DMP in the past.

Majid, Chairman, Bangladesh Krishi Bank and Mr. M Sahabuddin Ahmed, Founder of Dutch-Bangla Bank and Chairman of Dutch-Bangla Bank Foundation have jointly inaugurated this Mobile Banking service on December 26, 2013 at the Local Office of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Dilkusha, Dhaka.

Under this agreement all 1,026 branches of the BKB will provide Dutch-Bangla Bank mobile banking services to the unbanked people of the country such as Account Opening, Cash Deposit (Cash-in) and Cash Withdrawal (Cash-out). All the existing DBBL mobile banking customers will also be able to get services from any of the BKB branches.

Dutch-Bangla Bank has opened its 136th Branch at Dumni (Dumni Bazar, Khilkhet, Dhaka) on 30th December 2013.
Mr. K.S.Tabrez, Managing Director of the Bank formally inaugurated the Dumni Branch. A Milad Mahfil on the occasion was held seeking blessings of the Almighty Allah for successful operation of the branch, prosperity of the business community, depositors and stakeholders of the Bank.
Dutch-Bangla Bank provides a wide range of Banking products and financial services including Card services to its retail and corporate customers. The new Branch will provide truly on-line banking facilities to the clients. The total number of the ATM and Fast Track networks of the Bank stands at 2,454 and 263 respectively all over Bangladesh.
DBBL has introduced Mobile Banking Services in 2011 for the first time in Bangladesh; to bring huge number of un-banked population of the country, particularly, in rural/remote areas into banking channel. In the meantime, 368 Upazillas of 64 districts have been brought under the purview of DBBL Mobile Banking Services.
Mr. K.S.Tabrez in his address of welcome informed that, DBBL is a market leader in retail customer based deposit accounts which stands at 3.21 million now. He called upon local people and business community to avail the best services and truly on-line banking facilities by maintaining a Bank Account with DBBL.
