Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd. (DBBL) donates Tk. 70.00 lac to construct a college building for Sholakuri College, Modhupur, Tangail.

Dutch-Bangla Bank has donated Tk. 70.00 lac for constructing a building for Sholakuri College, Modhupur, Tangail. A cheque for Tk. 70.00 lac was handed over by Mr. K.S. Tabrez, Managing Director of the Bank to Mr. Yeakub Ali, Chairman, Organizing Committee, Sholakuri College, in presence of other members of the organizing committee as well as senior executives of the bank, on 25th October 2012 at the head office of the Bank.

Sholakuri union is situated in Modhupur upazilla of Tangail district. It has 42 villages and about 35,000 people live in this area. Most of them are ethnic – Garo and Kutch. There is no college in Sholakuri and its surrounding areas. But a huge number of students of these areas go to college everyday which is located at a long distance from their residences. Consequently, many students especially female students are dropped-out every year. There is a dire need for establishing a college in Sholakuri Union, Modhupur, Tangail.

DBBL’s financial support is part of broader commitment to create awareness about the neglected part of the society and to promote educational rights of neglected students in remote areas. DBBL’s social cause initiatives includes awarding Tk. 102 crore – annual scholarship program to needy and meritorious students of the country.
