In continuation of social cause program Dutch-Bangla Bank awarded scholarship to 2,030 students as the sixth phase who passed H.S.C Examination in 2012. Taka 30.00 crore will be expended for awarding scholarship to the 2,030 students of this phase for their full academic period. Mr. Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, MP, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Finance, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest and handed over the Scholarship Awarding Letters to the recipients at a ceremony held at Shahid Shohrawardi Indoor Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka on December 22, 2012 while Mr. Gerben de Jong, the Honorable Ambassador of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Dhaka was present as the Special Guest. Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of DBBL presided over the function. Mr. K.S. Tabrez, Managing Director of the bank was also present at the function.

Hon’ble Minister Mr. Abul Maal Abdul Muhith lauded the role of Dutch-Bangla Bank in the field of education by way of awarding scholarships to the needy students. He underscored the need of support and cooperation of all corporate bodies for the underprivileged students in the country. He thanked DBBL for the initiative to give scholarships to the meritorious and needy students for helping the spread of education.

Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Bank in his address informed that Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited, over and above its regular financial activities, always reaches to the destitute of the country by way of carrying out a wide range of philanthropic activities in various fields like, education, health-care, human resource development, conservation of forest etc. He also mentioned that 80% of the scholarships are awarded to the students coming from rural areas. The EC Chairman extended his gratitude and thanks to the Hon’ble Minister for attending and gratifying the scholarship awarding ceremony.
