Dutch-Bangla Bank has donated Tk. 70.00 lac to the Organizing Committee of Sholakuri College at an event held on 5 January 2013 at the college premises under Modhupur upazilla, Tangail.

There are no colleges or higher education opportunities in Sholakuri and surrounding areas. But large number of, mostly ethnic students of the surrounding 42 villages have to resort to other colleges everyday which are located at impractical distance. Consequently, many students specially female students have dropped out every year due to this impracticality. So there was a dire need for establishing a college in Sholakuri union.

Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, MP and Honourable Minister, Ministry of Food, Govt. of Bangladesh attended the foundation laying ceremony as chief guest while Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman EC of the Board attended as special guest. The event was also attended by large array of people including students of the college, teachers, members of the organizing committee, Chairman and Vice Chairman of Modhupur upazilla and Sholakuri Union Parishad and a large number of local residents, who mostly comprises of ethnic people – Garo and Kutch.

Mr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, Honourable Minister, Ministry of Food, in his oration appreciated DBBL’s humanitarian and social cause activities and termed this donation as a unique example, which would go long in spreading education to the disadvantaged people of the country.

Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, Honourable Minister alongwith Mr. M. Sahabuddin Ahmed, Founder of Dutch-Bangla Bank and Chairman of Dutch-Bangla Bank Foundation, Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman EC of the Board unveiled a stone-plaque at the college premises and offered munazaat with all present at the event. Mr. K.S. Tabrez, Managing Director and Mr. Sayedul Hasan, Deputy Managing Director of the Bank were also present.
