Dutch-Bangla Bank builds the first bridge at Rowmari, Kurigram
|‘Dutch-Bangla Bank Bridge’ linking the road from Chatlakanda to Tura via Shoulmari Rowmari upozilla to ease sufferings of the rural people and to boost business activities under Kurigram district-opened.
Dutch-Bangla Bank took the initiative for construction of a long cherished bridge replacing the bamboo bridge in the remote area Chatlakanda of Rowmari upozilla under Kurigram district which is the dream and aspiration of 50 thousand people of the locality for around 20 years.
Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman, EC of the Board, DBBL opened the ‘Dutch-Bangla Bank Bridge’ by unveiling a plaque and offering munazaat on 13th January 2012 in presence of a large gathering of people of 18 villages and other high officials of local administration.
A newspaper report high-lighting the miserable sufferings of the inhabitants of 18 villages of Rowmari upazilla situated in the North-East frontier point of the country surrounded by Brahmaputra and Zinzirum rivers drew the attention of the Bank and after conducting a field survey, a bridge (144 ft.) at a cost of Tk. 6.1 million has been constructed under the supervision of the Bank. The bridge will improve the socio-economic situation of the area.
Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain, MP of Kurigram-4 constituency, Mr. Sheikh Mohammad Abdul Khaleque, Chairman, Rowmari upozilla, Kurigram, Mr. Fakrul Islam (Engr), Director, DBBL, Mr. Md. Yeasin Ali, Ex-MD, DBBL, Mr. K.S. Tabrez, MD, DBBL, and Mr. Abul Kashem Md. Shirin, DMD, DBBL were also present on the occasion.
