“Dutch-Bangla Bank formally launched mobile banking in partnership with Airtel Bangladesh Ltd. Under this initiative, Airtel subscribes will enjoy mobile banking services such as , cash-in, cash-out, remittance collection, salary disbursement, mobile top-up facility and person to person money transfer using DBBL mobile banking account.

The Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman formally inaugurated the service as chief guest by performing a live “Send Money” transaction on the spot on the premises of Union Information Service Centre of Uttarkhan Union Parishad in Dhaka.

The function was also attended among others, by the Secretary, Ministry of ICT, Mr. N.I. Khan, the Chairman, BTRC, Major General Zia Ahmed PSC (Rtd.), the Chairman of E.C. of the Board, DBBL, Mr. Sayem Ahmed, CEO & Managing Director, Airtel Bangladesh Ltd. Mr. Chris Tobit, Managing Director, DBBL, Mr. K.S. Tabrez, Deputy Managing Director, DBBL, Mr. A.K.M. Shirin and Head of M-Commerce, Airtel, Ms. Rubaba Dowla.

The Governor in his speech lauded the role of Dutch-Bangla Bank in expanding its M-banking services across the country and added that mobile banking service would go a long way in making financial transactions accessible even to un-banked population spread across the remotest corner of Bangladesh and increases every month at least by 15% with transaction of more than Tk.1,000.00 crore on an average, every month.”
