Dutch-Bangla Bank holds 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited was held on March 30, 2017 at Sena Malancha, Dhaka Cantonment, Dhaka under the Chairmanship of Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman, the Board of Directors of the Bank. The Chairman welcomed the Hon’ble Shareholders’ present in the AGM.

A huge number of Shareholders attended the AGM of the Bank.The Bank declared Cash Dividend @ 30% (i.e. Taka 3 per share of Taka 10 each) for the year 2016.

Among others, Directors of the Board including Mr. Abedur Rashid Khan (Chairman, Executive Committee of the Board of Directors), Mr. Md. Fakhrul Islam, Mr. Md. Nazim Uddin Bhuiyan, FCMA (Chairman, Audit Committee of the Board of Directors), Mr. Mohd. Khorshed Alam attended the meeting.

Among others, the Audited Financial Statements of the Bank for the year ended December 31, 2016 were placed before the AGM and a number of Shareholders discussed the performance of the Bank. The shareholders made various observations and suggestions on performance of the Bank for the year 2016.

Total assets of the Bank as at 31 December 2016 stood at Taka 276,844.4 million compared to Taka 244,057.6 million of 2015 registering a growth by Taka 32,786.8 million or 13.4%. Loans and Advances of the Bank stood at Taka 173,397.8 million at the end of 2016, a growth of 13.9% over Taka 152,270.0 million at the end of 2015. The deposits grew by Taka 20,469.0 million in 2016 from Taka 186,765.0 million to Taka 207,234.0 million showing a growth of 11.0%.

In 2016, profit before tax stood at Taka 3,234.0 million compared to Taka 6,267.3 million in 2015. Profit after tax stood at Taka 1,762.6 million compared to Taka 3,020.3 million in 2015. During the year under review, earnings per share attributable to shareholders amounted to Taka 8.8 compared to Taka 15.1 during the previous year. Capital to Risk-weighted Asset (s) Ratio (CRAR) under Basel III stood at 13.1% at the end of 2016 against the Bangladesh Bank minimum requirement of 10.625%.

The meeting also unanimously reappointed M/s. A. Qasem & Co., Chartered Accountants as the external auditor of the Bank for the year 2017.
